Learning a language through the sense of hearing is a fun and effective way to learn a new language. And when it comes to choosing what to listen to in order to improve your listening comprehension, what better way to do it than through Spanish series or films?
From Dencanto Community we recommend some of the best films to learn Spanish according to your level.
Why learn Spanish by watching films?
Watching films in their original version is a wonderful way to improve in a new language. In the case of Spanish, it is very helpful to listen to words and phrases that are used in everyday life in order to improve your level little by little.
The 10 best Spanish films
Here are some of the best films to improve your Spanish according to your level.
Films to learn Spanish A1
Childhood films are a great way to start learning Spanish: Tarzan, The Lion King, Aladdin, Bambi… all animated films tend to use simple language and a neutral accent, two characteristics that will make following the dialogue much easier.
In addition, you know the story of many of these films, so you can focus more on understanding what the characters are saying and not on the plot of the story. We recommend that you turn on Spanish subtitles the first few times you watch Spanish films.
Films to learn Spanish for intermediate levels
When you are at an intermediate level, you can move on to non-cartoon films. However, it is still advisable to choose films whose characters vocalise clearly and whose storyline is not too complicated.
Our recommendation is:
- Three Weddings Too Many.
- Dark blue almost black.
- Ocho apellidos vascos.
- Talk to her.
Advanced level films to learn
If your level of Spanish is already advanced or almost bilingual, you can opt for films that use more complicated grammatical structures such as the subjunctive, the imperative or the past perfect.
For a Spanish level of C1 or even C2, we suggest:
- ‘Mar Adentro
- All about my mother’.
- La Isla Mínima
- Cell 211
- Belle Époque
Choose your favourite film, select ‘Spanish’ on your TV menu and you will see how your listening comprehension and communication skills in Spanish will improve considerably in a short time.
