Colegio Maravillas: much more than a school for learning Spanish on the Costa del Sol

We visited Colegio Maravillas in Benalmádena to explore its facilities, Spanish courses for young learners and adults, over-50s programme and educational team. Discover a school where learning Spanish goes hand in hand with cultural immersion and life on the Costa del Sol.

DENCANTO COMMUNITY · SCHOOLS AND EXPERIENCES

We visited Colegio Maravillas in Benalmádena and discovered a school where learning Spanish goes far beyond the classroom: facilities, activities, teachers and an educational experience designed to help students enjoy life on the Costa del Sol.

When you’re looking for somewhere to learn Spanish in Spain, the school matters, but so does everything that happens around the lessons. The surroundings, facilities, activities, opportunities to meet other students and the way the team supports each person can completely transform a language stay.

That’s why, on 22 October, we had the opportunity to visit Colegio Maravillas in Benalmádena and take a closer look at the experience it offers its students.

And if we had to sum up our visit in one idea, it would be this: Maravillas is much more than a place to study Spanish.

01 / SURROUNDINGS AND FACILITIES

A school in a setting that makes you want to stay

One of the first things that strikes you about Maravillas is its setting. It is located in Benalmádena, in the heart of the Costa del Sol, close to the Mediterranean and surrounded by the Andalusian way of life that turns language learning into an experience that continues after class. But the school’s real appeal lies within.

Maravillas offers a spacious, bright and well-equipped educational environment, with different areas where students can study, relax, socialise and enjoy their stay. Its facilities include classrooms, a library, a dining room, courtyards, communal areas, a multipurpose room, an auditorium, a sports hall, a laboratory and computer rooms.

It also has spaces for sports and leisure, which is particularly appealing to students looking to combine a Spanish course in Spain with an active, social experience.

02 / SPANISH BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Here, Spanish doesn’t stay inside the classroom

This philosophy was one of the things we liked most about Maravillas. Learning a language is not just about studying grammar. It means listening, using it, making mistakes, having conversations and connecting with other people.

That’s why studying at Maravillas can combine Spanish lessons with different activities and experiences that bring students closer to Spanish and Andalusian culture.

All of this creates something particularly valuable for an international student: an environment where using the language outside class feels natural.

03 / COURSES AND PROGRAMMES

A school for different ages and goals

Another feature that makes Maravillas appealing is the variety of programmes available.

Its Spanish programmes include options for different student profiles:

  • A Spanish course for students over 50, designed for those who want to combine learning, culture and an international experience.
  • An intensive Spanish course for adult students who want to make the most of their stay, with private lesson options.
  • Day Camp, for young people aged 13 and over.
  • Other programmes for young people, taking place during the summer months and featuring a range of sporting activities.

This variety allows Maravillas to cater for very different profiles, from adults who want to improve their Spanish to young people looking for their first language-learning experience in Spain.

You can explore all the Spanish courses and programmes at Maravillas and discover which one best suits your age, goals and type of stay.

04 / THE TEAM

The people made an impression too

During our visit, we had the opportunity to get to know the Maravillas team better and speak with teachers and the people responsible for organising and managing the student experience.

And that is probably one of the school’s greatest strengths.

Good facilities catch your attention when you arrive, but it is the people who make an educational experience memorable.

The friendly approach, the team’s commitment and the feeling of being somewhere with so much going on give Maravillas a personality of its own.

The school also has a long educational history. Colegio Maravillas currently reports 54 years of history and a community of 892 students, within an educational project focused on a well-rounded education, values, teamwork and personal development.

05 / OUR VISIT

Our visit to Maravillas

We left our visit with a very clear impression: Maravillas has something that is difficult to manufacture: personality.

It is a school with history, facilities, activities and a wide range of programmes, but above all, a team whose enthusiasm for doing things well shines through.

For anyone looking for a Spanish-learning experience in Spain that combines education, social connection and Mediterranean life, Benalmádena deserves a place on the map.

And we look forward to continuing to discover new ways, together with the team, to help students not only learn Spanish, but experience Spain as they learn.
